Nearly two weeks since Fox News commentator Glenn Beck first broke the story of White House advisor Van Jones’s dubious ties to radical activist groups, more news media outlets are picking up on the story, most notably the Washington Post.
U.S. Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) made the call today for Pres. Obama to fire Jones, who has been referred to in the media as the “Green Czar,” saying that Jones’s “extremist views and coarse rhetoric have no place in this Administration or the public debate.”
During a White House press conference, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, the usually glib talker was noticeably reticent, offering only that Jones “continues to work for the administration” and declining further comment.
Damning audiotapes and video footage surfaced recently depicting Jones’ espousing extremist views and remarks, echoing similar sentiments held by racist, militant organizations like the Black Panther Party and the Nation of Islam.
